Whether it's a cool summer evening spent out on the water, at a backyard cookout, or a hot summer day out on the golf course. The darting silhouettes' of a small group of mallards, the "V" of geese up high in the sky, or the distant "wooeek-ooeek" call of a wood duck seems to always garner all of your attention no matter what you are doing. You're a Duck hunter, you just can't help it. Temperatures are up, summer plans and activities are in full swing, and duck season ended months ago, or did it? Does duck season ever end?
In short, for the majority of us duck hunters,the answer is NO. Duck season never ends. We keep our calls in our trucks, so we can quack at the mallards sitting on the local ponds. We find ourselves constantly looking up into the sky, trying to identify every bird flying over. And we scour the internet for last year's clearance hunting gear, and that gun you have been waiting to go on sale for the last three seasons, telling yourself " this year i'm gonna get me that new duck gun." Knowing good and well that on opening day you will still be using the same one you have used for the last ten years. Just because ducks aren't "in season" doesn't mean that duck season has ended. There's still plenty to do, much to plan, and many things to enjoy when duck hunting is "out of season." Because for us Duck season never ends.
